Very very insightful! kinda gives you the cold hard reality of our industry, haha. Although he's talking more about the 2D industry most of the things he mentioned are very very true. Things like artistic skills can be compaired to having the decerning eye of a 3D animator in figuring out what looks right and wrong and also in coming up with great and witty ideas and poses. Need lots of perserverance too.
Don't despair however! Things are looking up. Companies such as Dreamworks and Blue Sky are starting to realize the importance of maintaining a team that is more or less permanent and stable so job stability is looking up. In the area of wages, sure we'll be doing like a whole lotta work and getting pay that is not as high as expected but the figures i've been hearing so far haven't really been all that low altogether as well. (Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand - exceptions)
